YouTube Introduces Exclusive ‘Members Only’ Shorts for Paying Subscribers
YouTube has launched a new feature called “Members Only Shorts,” enabling creators to share exclusive short-form video content with their paying subscribers. This move aims to provide additional value to members while encouraging more users to sign up for paid memberships.
Body: As part of the latest update, creators can now offer special announcements, product drops, or limited-time deals exclusively to their paying audience. They can utilize Members Only Shorts for various purposes such as Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes glimpses, or sneak peeks at forthcoming material.
The introduction of Members Only Shorts coincides with TikTok’s recent expansion of its subscription offering to more creators. Following the renaming of its Live Subscription Monetization Tool to “Subscription” earlier this month, non-live creators are now allowed to publish exclusive videos accessible only to paying subscribers.
To make a Short members-only, creators must select the “members only” option under the visibility settings when uploading or choosing an existing Short. Additionally, they may opt to schedule their Shorts to switch from private to public, providing subscribers with early access to content before it goes live for others.
Google-owned YouTube advises creators to maintain a more informal and organic touch in their Members Only Shorts, fostering a sense of intimacy among subscribers. These exclusive videos will appear in the Shorts tab, Subscriptions feed, and on a creator’s channel, marked with a star icon denoting restricted access for paying subscribers.
Conclusion: With Shorts averaging over 70 billion daily views and approximately 25% of YouTube Partners Program participants monetizing their videos through revenue sharing on Shorts, the platform continues to prioritize engaging content creation opportunities for both creators and viewers alike.
